Stopover at Amsterdam Airport

Q: We have a 10-hour stop-over in Amsterdam during the night, and would prefer to rent a room close to the airport until our onward flight the next morning. Do you have any suggestions for a hotel/motel in a reasonable price range that we could book in advance? - Barbara Derbidge

A: If you are feeling even a little adventurous, this is an opportuntity to try out two very trendy new accommodation options. The first is the Yotel Schiphol Airport, which offers pod-like rooms within the airport depature area. The surprisingly comfortable cabins offer en-suite bathrooms with a rain shower, toilet, television, air conditioning, flat screen TV’s, free WiFi and 24 hour in cabin service. You can choose between cabins with a double bed, a single bed and two bunk-style singles. Prices depend on availability and when you book (www.yotel.com). The second is the citizenM Amsterdam Airport which offers luxurious rooms at an affordable rate. It is located within walking distance of the terminals and offers a 24-hour restaurant and free wireless internet (www.citizenmamsterdamairport.com). A more conventional budget option is the Etap Hotel Amsterdam Airport. which offers 200 modern rooms which sleep up to three people. Located close to the airport in Badhoevedorp, it is easily accessible with the three shuttle service. Rates start at 54 Euros per night. (www.etaphotel.com). (2 May 2010)
