Finding a Beach Resort

<!--[if gte mso 9]> Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Q: We are planning a trip to Malaysia shortly and will spend most of the time in Kota Kinabalu. Are there flights from KK to Malacca? Alternatively, can we take a coach from Kuala Lumpur airport (upon arrival there from KK) to Malacca? Regarding hotels in Malacca - I have read of Shah's Beach Resort. What can you tell me about it? Can you suggest some 3-star hotels in Malacca? - Olivia Gurjao

A: There are no flights from Kota Kinabalu to Malacca. There is a small airport in Malacca but most visitors arrive at Kuala Lumpur International Airport which is located 85kms from the city. There are no direct buses from the airport to Malacca, but there are plenty buses from the Puduraya bus station in Kuala Lumpur. The easiest way to get from the airport to Malacca is by taxi. That takes around 90 minutes and should cost you around 145 Malaysian Ringgits. There are plenty of hotels in Malacca ranging from 40 MYR (R95) per night. Shahs Beach Resort is located in Tanjung Kling, a few kilometres from the city centre. Set in a quiet village by the sea, it offers 50 traditional wooden chalets from around 150 MYR (R350) per night. One of the highly-rated hotels is the Holiday Inn Malacca, where rooms are offered from 300 MYR ( R695). Check out the website www.malacca-hotels.com for some options. (2 May 2010)
