Touring Ferrari

Q: I believe it is possible to visit the Ferrari factory and museum in Italy. Could you tell me where they are, how to get there and accommodation nearby.- James Carr

A: The museum to the Ferrari brand is known as the Galleria Ferrari and is located in Ferrari's home town of Maranello in in northern Italy. The galleria is only 300m from the factory, but you are not permitted to tour the factory (or the testing track) unless you are buying a Ferrari. The museum covers Ferrari’s history and has a number of its vehicles on show. Maranello is 20kms from Modena, so you can either rent a car or take a taxi between the two.

Interestingly, the Lamborghini factory and its museum is situated in the same area and they allow factory tours. Lamborghini can be found in Sant'Agata Bolognese, 19km from Modena. The best place to stay in the area is Modena, which has many hotels in all price brackets.
