Try a Budget Hotel in London

Q: I am looking for a cheap hotel in London. I prefer the budget chains as they are more consistent than other cheap hotels, so could you provide me with two or three groups operating in central London. - David Westerfeld

A: I agree that the budget chains are a good option these days, as they have refined their products down to the very basic requirements at very good prices. A very popular choice is easyHotels. There are six outlets in London at very good locations. The rooms are very basic and it’s definitely a case of “you get what you pay for”! Prices start from 25 British pounds a night (www.easyhotel.com). Travelodges are another great choice for cheap and clean accommodation. It might surprise you to learn that there are now 22 of these budget lodges in London. Rooms have bathrooms, TV and tea and coffee facilities. Rates start at an amazing 19 British pounds (www.travelodge.co.uk). Starting to make its mark in Britain is the Asian group, Tune Hotels. The Tune Hotels Westminster has a superb location on Westminster Bridge Road in the heart of London. It launched last year with a room rate of 9 British pounds per night, but these days rates start at around 40 pounds (www.tunehotels.com). Like most budget hotels, the key to getting very cheap rates is to book as early as possible. At peak periods rates can rise substantially. (1/5/11)
