Q: My family and I will travel to London in December and would like to visit Paris for a day during our stay. Can you kindly advise on what the best possible mode of transport is (we prefer not to fly), what it is likely to cost and what we can see and do while there.- Abe Malema
A: As you prefer not to fly from London to Paris, the three main options open to you are by the eurostar train service, by bus/ferry or train/ferry. To get the most out of your day I recommend you take an organised day tour using the Eurostar, which will allow you the most time to see many of the great attractions in Paris. Check out the website, www.goldentours.co.uk, for some great packages. The cheapest option I could find gives you reserved seats on the Eurostar for your return journey and tickets for a one-hour cruise on the Seine River. You also get a map of Paris and a metro pass which allows you to visit sights including the Eiffel Tower, Sacré Coeur, Notre Dame, Arc de Triomphe and the Louvre. The total cost of this package is 109 British pounds per person. For an additional 70 British pounds per person you can get a fully escorted tour, which offers extras like guaranteed entry to the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower and hotel transfers in London. (5/9/10)
