Overnight Trip to Cannes

Q: I will be in Paris in January and would love to take an overnight trip to Cannes. As I have very limited time, I would only spend one night in Cannes and then return to Paris for my flight back to South Africa. Is this feasible if using the high-speed train? How long does it take? - Ronel Berger

A: The TGV high-speed train takes 5-6 hours for the journey, so an overnight trip is definitely possible. You could leave Paris early in the morning and be in Cannes for lunch and leave after lunch the next day and be back in Paris in time for dinner or to catch your flight home. If you are travelling back to South Africa on the same day, you could consider flying from Nice to Paris to connect with your flight. There are plenty of flights operating on this route, so you may be able to buy a cheap ticket. You can get from Cannes to Nice by bus. (7/11/10)
