Camping in the Dubai Desert

Q: During a visit to Dubai in March I would love to get out of the city and spend a night camping in the desert. I don't want to go to one of the luxurious tented resorts, but stay in a regular tent in an undeveloped area. Is this possible? - Eric Venter

A: There are a number of overnight desert experiences available in Dubai. Travel & Culture Services provides a fully-inclusive experience managed by experienced guides. You are collected at your hotel and taken on a private 4x4 vehicle tour of the desert of Margham, east of Dubai. A tent camp is set up in the desert, where you can experience camel rides, henna tattooing and shisha smoking. Guides prepare a traditional barbeque cooked on an open fire and this is followed by a belly dancing show. The price ranges from 110 to 289 US dollars person, depending on the size of the group. Check out the www.dubai.travel-culture.com website or telephone +971-567-15-90-25 to book. (19/12/10)
