China Beach's New Name

Q: I am attending a conference in Singapore in October and would like to take the opportunity to visit China Beach in Vietnam. Could you recommend a good hotel there? I would like to be close to the beach but I will also be using the hotel as a base to explore the Marble Mountains, Hoi An and other historical sites. Also can you advise me on the best way to get there from Singapore? - Adrian Reves

A: China Beach is now known as Non Nuoc Beach, so try this name when searching for a hotel. The Furama Resort is regarded as the best hotel and offers luxurious rooms and a wide range of facilities for around 250 US dollars a night. A cheaper option is the Sandy Beach Hotel, a nice three-star beachfront hotel. Rates for a standard room start at around 60 US dollars a night if you book with one of the discount websites like www.asiarooms.com or www.hoteltravel.com. The easiest way to get to the beach resort from Singapore is to fly to Danang. There are direct flights daily on Silk Air, Singapore Airline's regional carrier. Non Nuoc Beach is only 7kms from Danang. (5 July 2009)
