Q: A business associate from the United States will visit South Africa July. He is a very keen golfer and wants to play our best courses. He has asked me to recommend the three top courses in the country. Besides the Sun City course, no-one I talk to seems to agree. Help! – Alec Downey.
A: I doubt you will find any two golfers to agree on all three. However, the Gary Player Country Club at Sun City would probably feature on most lists, as a result of the Million Dollar Challenge. My research suggests the other top courses include The Links course at Fancourt, near George on the Garden Route, and Leopard Creek, adjoining the Kruger Park near Nelspruit. Of the city courses, the top choice seems to be the Durban Country Club.
