QUESTION: I hope to visit Switzerland in late March this year and want to know whether it will still be 'winter' or will it feel more like spring? Where should I go to be sure of good skiing. - Rae Jones
ANSWER: It should still be a winter environment with the spring rains only due to start in April. Winter officially ends on March 20 this year, but visitors will still experience snow at most resorts and many ski slopes will be open throughout the month. The popular resort, Zermatt, is reputed to have the longest winter season in the Alps, with all three skiing areas open until the beginning of May.
