Night flight to Maldives

QUESTION: We are planning a trip to the Maldives, but our flight arrives at night and we would prefer to transfer to our resort in the morning (so we can enjoy
the views!) In reading up reviews of hotels, many people have complained of a boat trip to the capital for overnight stays, claiming that the standard of hotels there is very poor. Should we just spend the night in the airport or do you know of any guesthouses, bed and breakfasts or lodges closer to the airport? - Ron Silver

ANSWER: There is a lovely hotel on the same island as the airport, the Hulhule Island Hotel. It is located overlooking the sea, only five minutes from the airport terminal, which makes it perfect for an overnight stay. Although it is expensive compared to hotels in Male, it is definitely worth it. You need to book early, as the hotel can be very busy.
