QUESTION: I will be on holiday in New York with my two boys and would like some ideas of what to do to keep them entertained. Any suggestions welcome- Jane Ridgate
ANSWER: There's plenty to do. First of all, there's Central Park, which could keep them entertained for days. Don't miss the zoo, which is great for children. A highlight is the polar bear pool, where they can watch the bears swimming and diving behind a glass wall. A great attraction for younger kids is the fabulous old-style carousel. Your boys will love the South Street Seaport, where they can tour renovated ships and pretend they are sailing the high seas. Another big hit should be the Sony IMAX 3-D Theatre on Broadway, with a huge screen which rises a few storeys. Put on goggles on go on a wild 3-D adventure. If you have a few dollars to burn, risk letting them loose in the FAO Schwarz store on Fifth Avenue, which is regarded as the world's greatest toy store. You'll discover even you are captivated by the life-size animals, kid-sized sports cars and amazing electronic goods on display. Go to the viewing deck on the 86th floor of the Empire State Building, but stop in at the New York Skyride, which is located on the second floor. Experience the simulated flight over the city, narrated by Kevin Bacon. Finally, don't miss the American Museum of Natural History, where you can visit the famous dinosaur halls and the most technologically advanced space show in the world.
