Q: I would like to go to Phuket/Bangkok during the September holidays,What is the weather like and is it worth going then? - Ruwaida Johnson
A: September is traditionally a rainy period, with daily showers and monsoon-like weather along the coast. The weather in Bangkok is hot and humid, but this won't affect your holiday that much as public transport is excellent and most shopping and facilities are indoors and air conditioned. The benefit of lower hotel rates and prices make it worthwhile visiting the capital at this time. Phuket is also hot and humid during September and you may experience a long spell of rain if you are unlucky. Overall, though, the weather is not as bad as it sounds. It never gets cold and even the rain is warm. Unless you intend spending every day on the beach, you will find many attractions to keep you busy on the island. And, don't worry, there will be plenty of time to swim. The big bonus is that prices are slashed during this period and resorts are not packed. (29/8/10)
