Q: When is the best time to visit Mauritius? I had planned to go in January but am told this is the humid, rainy season. Can you assist? - Gavin North
A: There are really only two seasons on Mauritius: summer, which stretches from November to April, and winter, which runs from June to September, The island does not really have a high and low season, though. It is busiest over the Christmas/New Year period, but attracts visitors throughout the year. The most humid, rainy months are from January to April, and cyclones can occur. However, this does not seem to put off too many travellers. July is the coolest month and February is the warmest. Weather-wise, the best time to visit is April to November. (20/3/11)
