Transport from KL Airport

Q: We are a family of five and need transport from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport to our hotel in the city centre. Our hotel charges 280 Malaysian Ringits (R632) for a transfer, but said we would need two vehicles to cope with five people at a total cost of 560 MYR (R1264). Please help us find a more cost-effective service. - Jean Bellevie

A: There is a very good train service from the airport, the KLIA Ekspres. It takes less than 30 minutes to get to the city centre. A single journey costs 35 MYR (R79) per person, bringing the cost for five to 175 MYR (R395). Taxi transport from the train terminus at Sentral Station to your hotel will only cost you a few Ringitt and the entire journey should cost less than 200 MYR (R451). However, you can also take a prepaid taxi from the airport to your hotel. You buy a voucher in the international arrivals hall just after immigration. A standard taxi costs 70-90 MYR, but you would need two taxis to comfortably transport your group. An alternative would be to hire a minibus with a seating capacity of eight people, which costs 199 MYR (R448). Being a door-to-door service, this is probably your best bet. You can get further information about the taxi service on telephone +603-8787 3678 (24 hours) and make a booking on telephone +603-8787-3690. (3/7/11)
