Singapore and the Islands

Q: I would be glad if you would assist me with my honeymoon plans for two weeks in late October/early November. I would like to visit Singapore and Phuket and perhaps some of the surrounding islands. I prefer 5 star accommodation, but with the best value for money. What do you recommend? - Ranjay

A: The first thing you can do is check the packages available for these destinations from operators and agents such as Thompsons, Holiday Tours and Seekers. If you find a package to the destinations you want using tourist level hotels, you can always ask for upgraded accommodation. When it comes to Thailand, the high season rates start on November 1, so it would be try to stay there in October. The rate difference can be significant. You may also wish to check packages to Singapore/Bali and Kuala Lumpur/Langkawi. They all offer great potential for a wonderful honeymoon. My personal preference would be to choose Kuala Lumpur or Bangkok for my "big city destination" as five star hotels offer fantastic value in these cities and then to find a discount rate at one of the luxury hotels on Phuket or Koh Samui. If you don’t mind spending a little more for a spectacular resort on one of the smaller islands in Thailand, three worth considering are the Racha Resort on Racha Island, Zeavola Resort on Phi Phi Island and Rasanada Resort on Koh Phangan. For discounted hotel rates check www.booking.com or www.agoda.com. Check rates for Malaysia Airlines, Singapore Airlines and Thai Airways.
