Going from Heathrow to Gatwick

Q: I need to transfer from Heathrow to Gatwick airports in London. I do not want to use the tube, the train or a bus. How much would a "black cab" taxi cost and how long would it take? - Stan Bishops

A: By road Heathrow and Gatwick are about 60kms apart. Travel is by motorway, but it can become very congested. At best, travelling time is 45-60 minutes. However, it can take twice as long during the peak morning and afternoon traffic. You will find the traditional black cabs parked outside your terminal. If you take one from the queue, the trip will cost you around 90 British pounds (R1000). However, you can get it for cheaper by making an advance booking. For further information, check the www.heathrowtaxis.org website or call the black cab inquiry desk at Heathrow on telephone number +44 (0) 208 745 7487. (29/5/11)
