Getting To Malta

Q: We will be travelling to Malta on a regular basis (about 3 or 4 times per year) and would like your assistance on finding the most effective route – for both cost and time. Connections through Europe (usually expensive), Dubai (a very long flight) and UK are some of the options we have considered, but maybe you can suggest a more direct route or cost effective alternative. - Elaine Daniel

A: Your best bet is probably going to be via England, as the air links to Malta are the strongest. Airports which have the highest number of flights to and from Malta International Airport are London Gatwick, London Heathrow and Manchester Airport and the busiest airlines using the airport are Air Malta, Ryanair and easyjet. If you can find a cheap flight to London, you should be able to find a cheap ticket to Malta on easyjet. Air Malta have seasonal specials from London Gatwick and Manchester from 99 British pounds return, including taxes. (8/8/10)
