Car Rental in England

Q: I would like to rent a car for the month of October when I am on holiday in England. I would be staying in Brighton and need the car from October 1-29. What is this likely to cost and what special conditions apply? - Simon Leeds

A: The best rate I could get for this period was £420.58 (British pounds) from Thrifty Car Rental. This covers the rental of a five-door Ford Fiesta for the full 28-day period. The rate includes VAT but not a damage liability reduction, a daily charge which reduces the damage liability from 500 (British Pounds) to zero. This amounts to £6.25 per day for this vehicle. Special conditions apply for drivers aged 21-24 or 70-75. When renting the vehicle, the driver needs to be in possession of a valid passport, a credit card in their own name, a valid driving licence from country of residence and travel documents confirming dates of arrival and departure from the UK. You can get further details from www.thrifty.co.uk or a quotation from a number of firms on the www.carrentals.co.uk website. (1/8/10)
