Can We Visit BMW?

Q: I was interested to read of the Ferrari Museum in your column. My family is visiting Germany in January and I wondered if there is a similar museum dedicated to BMW. We are great BMW fans and would be very interested in visiting such a facility. - Andrew McCarthy

A: The BMW Museum is located near the Olympiapark in Munich and was established in 1972 shortly before the Summer Olympics opened. Extensively renovated from 2004 to 2008, the museum reopened in 2008 to much acclaim. It houses an outstanding display of cars and motorcycles and provides visitors with a fascinating history of the company and its vehicles. Visitors rate the museum very highly and it attracts around 250,000 people every year. The museum is open Tuesday to Sunday, from 10am-6pm. The entrance fee is 12 euros for adults, 6 euros for those under 18 and a family ticket for a couple with three children priced at 24 euros. You can enjoy a 90-minute tour of the buildings and exhibitions for an additional 3 euros (or six euros for a family). This is conducted in German or English. For further information you can check the www.bmw-museum.com website. (24/10/10)
