Hotel at Athens Airport

Q: Can you recommend a nice hotel near Athens Airport? As we are only overnighting, we would prefer not to go into Athens and would prefer to be as close to the airport as possible. - Fred Lange

A: The most convenient option is the Sofitel Athens Airport, which offers excellent rooms, two restaurants and an indoor swimming pool close to the airport terminals. You can count on paying around 200 euros for a room. A more affordable option is the Holiday Inn, which is located about 8 minutes from the airport by shuttle service. It provides similar amenities to the Sofitel, but is usually around 30 percent cheaper. Both are listed as five-star hotels. Please note there is another Holiday Inn in Athens, the one near the airport is listed as the Holiday Inn - Attica Avenue and is actually in Peania, not Athens. (24 May 2009)
