Train to Atlantic City

Q: During a visit to New York in April, we would like to visit Atlantic City for a night or two. Which is the best way to get there? I would prefer not to rent a car and drive, so am looking for affordable public transport. - Ellis Jones

A: There are plenty of bus services to Atlantic City. Some of these are subsidised by casino resorts, which means that you get dropped off and collected from that resort. There is also the regular Greyhound service, which costs around 25 US dollars each way. From February 1, you will also be able to use a high-speed weekend train service. It will run between New York's Penn Station and Atlantic City. The trains will feature leather seating and a food and beverage service for around 50 US dollars each way. There is also a first-class service for 75 US dollars each way. A free shuttle service will operate from the Atlantic City train station to a number of casino resorts.
