QUESTION: I am a vegetarian and will be working in London for three weeks in June. Any suggestions for great veggie restaurants in central London? - Mike Haverley
ANSWER: There are plenty of restaurants specialising in vegetarian and vegan food. Most listings guides will provide you with scores of options. One of the best-known is Food For Thought in Covent Garden (31 Neal Street; tel: 020-7830239), but it can get very crowded. Another popular choices are Beatroot (92 Berwick Street) for a good spread of hot dishes, soups and smoothies, and Mildreds in Soho ( 45 Lexington Street). For Asian specialities, the place to go is Buddha Cafe (41 Lexington Street), but if you want a traditional spread of veggie specialities, from breakfasts and burgers to pasta and puddings, try Eat and Two Veg (50 Marylebone High St). There are plenty of vegetarian buffet restaurants offering excellent value. These include Buddha Buffet (11 Greek Street), Buffet Veg (40 New Oxford Street) and Chi Vegan Noodle Bar (55 St Martin's Lane). For a quick meal, try one of the branches of Just Falafs (155 Wardour Street, Soho and 27b Covent Garden Piazza), which offers great falafels, sandwiches and fast vegetarian food.
