QUESTION: We are considering getting married during our holiday to Mauritius in July. As we are Catholics, how would we go about organising this? Are there any special restrictions? - James Martinson
ANSWER: You should consult the management of the hotel where you will be staying, as they will be able to assist you with the arrangements and be aware of the necessary requirements. They will have done this before! Foreigners need to obtain a certificate from the Prime Minister's Office specifying that they are not Mauritian citizens or residents. You will need 2 copies of both of your birth certificates and the request needs to be made about 10 days before the wedding. You can marry in a registry office or the hotel.
