Cheap flight to Bali

QUESTION: We will be visiting Malaysia and Singapore in May and would like to extend our trip to Bali. We have checked the prices on Singapore Airlines and Malaysia Airlines and would like to know if there are any decent budget carriers flying from either destination to Bali that would offer cheaper fares. - Ingrid Du Toit

ANSWER: Air Asia, which has an excellent reputation, flies from Kuala Lumpur International Airport to Denpasar (Bali) daily. In keeping with most budget carriers, ticket prices vary according to demand, but you should be able to get a return ticket for less than R1000. You should book as soon as possible on the www.airasia.com website. Please note, however, that if you travelled to Asia from South Africa on Singapore Airlines or Malaysia Airlines, you should ask about the cost of an add-on ticket to Bali with that airline, as opposed to a separate ticket. The price may be substantially less.
